The way I view it, life has four quarters.
The first quarter starts at birth and ends when you finish school–whatever grade that is.
The second quarter then begins. This is the time you spend applying what you have learned in school. You convert all the theoretical textbook stuff into a real world existence.
During the third quarter, you work on bettering yourself, your life, your experiences. This is the time when you work on getting promoted in your job, advancing your career, creating a successful business.
The fourth–and last–quarter is when you have finished working and kill time until you eventually ‘go home’. Maybe you’ve retired (by choice or otherwise); maybe you’ve been canned and are considered too old to survive in the workplace anymore. It may be a time of great joy, or a time of immense sorrow.
As for me…I’m in my fourth quarter. And, as far as I’m concerned, it sucks!
